Digital TV Aerial Installation Freeview HD & Storm Repairs

Direct Answer: A roof aerial receives unobstructed line-of-sight signals from the transmitter, delivering maximum signal strength. A loft aerial is sheltered inside the attic, but roof materials weaken incoming signals.

Trade Tip: In fringe valleys or weak reception zones, an outdoor roof aerial is always the reliable choice for steady Freeview HD pictures.

Direct Answer: Pictures freeze when your signal drops too low. Wind can shift your aerial. Rain can leak into old cables. Nearby phone masts can also cause interference.

Trade Tip: First check that your TV lead is pushed tight into the wall socket. If it still freezes, we can realign your aerial or fit a 4G/5G filter.

Direct Answer: A 'no signal' screen means your TV is getting no signal from the roof. This often means a broken cable, a tripped power unit, or storm damage to your mast.

Trade Tip: Try testing another TV on the same socket. If every room has lost its picture, the fault is on the roof or in your booster box.

Direct Answer: Freeview channels travel in groups. If your aerial moves slightly or is very old, you may get some channels while others break up.

Trade Tip: A modern wideband aerial pulls in all channel groups evenly. It brings back your missing BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and HD channels.

Direct Answer: If your tv aerial keeps losing signal on windy days, the bracket or clamp is loose. Even a slight twist drops your digital signal below the required level.

Trade Tip: We fit heavy-duty steel brackets and stainless steel chimney wire cradles. They stay firm in 90mph gale winds.

Direct Answer: You only need an aerial repair if your aerial hardware is physically intact and the fault is minor, such as a loose bracket, water in the cable, or alignment drift (£69).

Trade Tip: If the aerial elements are snapped, the plastic connection box is cracked, or your aerial was fitted for analog TV, a digital aerial upgrade (£149) is needed.

Direct Answer: Signs your aerial needs replacing include bent metal rods, rust marks on your wall, cracked cables, or missing HD channels.

Trade Tip: We test your setup with a digital meter. We show you whether a simple cable fix or a new aerial is the best step.

Direct Answer: Freeview uses a TV aerial and gives you over 70 free channels. Freesat uses a dish and gives you over 170 free channels.

Trade Tip: Both services are free each month. If you live in a deep valley where hills block TV masts, a satellite dish is a great alternative.

Direct Answer: Yes, if you want to watch live TV without internet lag. Catch-up apps use broadband, but live Freeview channels need an aerial.

Trade Tip: An aerial also lets you watch live news and sports when your home internet goes down.

Direct Answer: Yes. We fit extra TV points and sockets in bedrooms, kitchens, and garden rooms. Extra points cost £89 each during the same visit.

Trade Tip: We run cables through lofts, under floorboards, or neatly outside. We leave your rooms clean and tidy.

Direct Answer: Yes. When running several TVs, we fit a splitter or a distribution unit. This keeps the signal strong at every TV socket.

Trade Tip: Basic splitters can drop power if you feed more than two rooms. A powered booster fixes this by sending clean signal to every room.

Direct Answer: A signal booster lifts incoming signal to overcome cable loss. You need one in weak signal spots or when feeding many screens.

Trade Tip: A booster cannot fix a broken aerial. If the signal has noise or faults, a booster just amplifies the problem. Fixing the aerial comes first.

Direct Answer: Yes. We use stainless steel chimney wire cradles. Steel wire wraps around the stack to hold the mast tight without drilling brickwork.

Trade Tip: This no-drill method stops water leaks and mortar damage. It is safe for older homes and listed buildings.

Direct Answer: Every new digital aerial comes with a 1 to 3 year written warranty. It covers all parts and labour with high-performance gear.

Trade Tip: If your aerial shifts or loses picture during your warranty, we return and fix it free of charge.

Direct Answer: Yes. Gary Pearce is fully DBS-checked with £5M liability cover for high-level roof work.

Trade Tip: We bring safety gear, ladders, and roof kits to every visit. We work safely and take pride in our trade.
